When the first-person shooter (FPS) Half-Life debuted in 1998, it forever changed PC gaming by introducing then-new concepts such as nearly complete uninterrupted control of Gordon Freeman the main character, a seamless narrative, and realistic gameplay. After more than a decade of players eagerly awaiting an announcement on a Half-Life sequel, developer Valve announced the upcoming release of Half-Life: Alyx scheduled for release in March of next year. The fusion of FPS and virtual reality (VR) gameplay features the character Alyx Vance, introduced in Half-Life 2 as she and her father Eli fight the multidimensional alien empire known as the Combine seeking to occupy Earth. Players will get to use a feature called “gravity gloves” allowing creative uses such as picking up a distant pistol.
