Virtual reality is expected to make major steps in 2016. In the case of PC gaming, the Oculus Rift headset will be launching during the first quarter and promises to redefine the idea of virtual reality gaming, allowing the user to freely move around and experience worlds in a new way.
The XCOM series is considered one of the finest strategy game series, and this year’s sequel to 2012’s highly regarded XCOM: Enemy Unknown will likely continue the trend. Set to be released on February 2, XCOM 2 players will take the role of a resistance fighter using new dynamic maps, new weapons, and improved guerrilla tactics.
The venerable Street Fighter series will be back this year with Street Fighter V, available for the PC next month. One of the most intriguing features is being able to play the game on your PC against Playstation 4 console gamers.
Blizzard, perhaps best known for its Warcraft and Starcraft series will be debuting a brand new team shooter designed to appeal to casual and hardcore gamers alike called Overwatch featuring over two dozen playable characters with unique abilities. Overwatch is expected to launch during the first or second quarter.
