Have You Upgraded to 4K?

August 15, 2018 | By Anthony

A survey by Valve Software conducted last month reveals some surprising numbers regarding PC gaming. Just over sixty percent of gamers using its popular Steam service are still playing their games in 1080p resolution. What’s perhaps even more surprising is that more than ten percent are playing games at the even lower resolution of 1,366 x 768 (HD). Just over three percent of gamers are taking advantage of the increasingly common 4K or 2,560 x 1,440 resolution.

Considering the gorgeous visuals of 1080p, a gamer may wonder why they should bother upgrading to 4K. Does the image become that much sharper? Indeed it does. When playing games in 4K, the image will look twice as sharp in 4K than it does in 1080p, which means there is a lot more detail involved, provided you’re using a 4K-ready monitor of course. More and more games are also rolling out support for 4K resolution including older titles like 2016’s Rise of the Tomb Raider. Trust us when we say experiencing the wilderness of Siberia alongside Lara Croft in 4K resolution is even more incredible looking than it is in 1080p.

All of our current gaming laptops and gaming desktops are built to handle the demands of 4K and they come with either a cutting-edge Nvidia or AMD GPU. As PC gaming increasingly moves towards more lifelike visuals and VR becomes more immersive, ORIGIN PC is ready to take gamers to the next level.
